I’ve always admired antique villages and the warm spirit of integration one feels from the close proximity of the individual homes. You get a sense that the inhabitants experience being part of a community, as if the warmth generated by their own walls is shared and retained in a metaphorical architectonic embrace. Perhaps it’s because these villages are built and managed using natural resources in such an efficient manner, that paradoxically, we could define them as rural urban centers functioning as eco-sustainable cities.
