Mola Arte Sin Fronteras

INAC – The Institute of Culture in Panama invited twenty artists of different nationalities to interpret the Molas. “Mola Arte Sin Fronteras” is an exhibition showcasing this analysis of the indigenous craft design of the Kuna tribe. The word mola literally means ‘shirt’ and traditionally is part of the female attire where two panels form front and back of the shirt. As an inspiration for their designs the Kuna first used the geometric patterns which have been used for body painting in ancient times.
