Fotografo di architettura di interni per le maggiori riviste del settore, Claudio Santini da anni ha esteso la sua visione fotografica verso un assetto più propriamente artistico espungendo dalle sue fotografie una larga parte di connotazione della realtà, traendone così un’anima puramente geometrica e astratta.
Per il progetto per la stazione FFSS AV di Afragola, nell’ambito del più vasto progetto promosso da ART1307 Istituzione Culturale dal titolo “Traveling with Zaha” curato da Cynthia Penna, Santini si è concentrato sulle linee geometriche che fanno da sfondo e da base ad autostrade, ponti e linee ferroviarie come “linee di connessione” tra elementi del reale quali luoghi e persone.
Partito dal dato concettuale degli asintoti come linee geometriche destinate a non incontrarsi mai se non all’infinito, Santini ha voluto cercare nell’arte, e solo in essa, il luogo di connessione degli asintoti: una trasposizione della realtà nella finzione artistica come luogo ove l’impossibile diventa possibile.
Nella sua versione in bianco e nero dei binari, delle autostrade e dei ponti, Santini ha voluto porre l’accento su quelle linee geometriche e architettoniche che appartengono ad una realtà di congiungimento e di interscambio piuttosto che ad una di separazione e frattura. I ponti sui fiumi ad esempio, a cui Zaha Adid si è ispirata per la sua versione della stazione FFSS di Afragola, offrono una possibilità di superamento di una frattura, di una separazione (il fiume appunto), per accedere all’unificazione di opposte sponde.
E così le autostrade mettono in connessione le persone, come anche le vie d’acqua, i binari dei treni e le linee ferroviarie: tutte “possibilità” di unione piuttosto che di separazione. Ed anche tutte forme lineari, percorsi longitudinali e linearità geometriche che l’artista ha voluto rimarcare attraverso le sue fotografie denudate da rappresentazioni del reale.
Le curve degli asintoti nella realtà fotografica e nell’illusione artistica di Santini si uniscono non più all’infinito , ma nella nostra realtà quotidiana in un messaggio di connessione tra popoli e culture che ben si attaglia al ruolo e al concetto di stazione ferroviaria come luogo di passaggio, di arrivo e di partenza e comunque di movimentazione di umanità. Un luogo che ineluttabilmente è destinato a creare interscambio di culture, di abitudini, di linguaggio tra i popoli.

Photographer of interior architecture for the major magazines in the sector, Claudio Santini has for years been extending his photographic vision towards a more specifically artistic setting by removing a large part of the connotation of reality from his photographs, thus drawing from them a purely geometric and abstract soul.

In his black and white version of the tracks, highways and bridges, Santini wanted to emphasize those geometric and architectural lines that belong to a reality of junction and interchange rather than to one of separation and fracture. The bridges on rivers, for example, which Zaha Adid was inspired by for her version of the Afragola railway station, offer the possibility of overcoming a fracture, of a separation (the river in fact), to access the unification of opposite banks . And so the highways connect people, as well as waterways, train tracks and railway lines: all "possibilities" of union rather than separation. And also all linear forms, longitudinal paths and geometric linearities that the artist wanted to emphasize through his photographs stripped of representations of reality. The curves of the asymptotes in Santini's photographic reality and artistic illusion are no longer joined to infinity, but in our daily reality in a message of connection between peoples and cultures that is well suited to the role and concept of the railway station as a place of passage, arrival and departure and in any case of movement of humanity. A place that is inevitably destined to create an interchange of cultures, habits and language between peoples.
